Motion Bails Me Out Of A Jam

I was at a party last weekend and someone asked me to do a trick.

I had nothing on me. No cards, no coins, no loops…NOTHING.

I was completely unprepared!

So I grabbed a pen off an end table and performed “Motion”.

I’m glad I had that trick in my toolbox!

People didn’t freak out at first, but sure enough, when they couldn’t re-create what I could do with the pen, they started to get a little “agitated” (in a fun way)

A small crowd formed around me.

This is one of those great tricks that, the more you do it, the more it fools people.

One of the greatest pieces of advice that I ever read in a magic book was…

“If you call yourself a magician, you must be able to perform magic at a moment’s notice. NO. MATTER. WHAT.”

And no, Uncle Charlie, the old “pulling my thumb off” trick does NOT count.

“Motion” works great because it’s 100% impromptu and everything can be borrowed.

And it kills…

Magic As A Job?

My softball team had a game last night (we lost….badly.)

Softball is something that I really enjoy and look forward to every year.

But if it weren’t for magic, I might not have been able to play.

Let me explain…

Some of my friends can’t play because they have job schedules that don’t allow them to get time off from work.

Some guys can’t play because they don’t have enough money for the league fees.

So magic is not only something I love, but it also allows me to do OTHER things that I enjoy.

So thank you, my customers and my friends, for my “job” in magic.

One of the biggest kicks I get out of magic now is helping other magicians succeed.

Mother’s Day Magic

Yesterday was Mother’s Day here in the States.

One of the lessons my mom taught me was never to put money in my mouth.

“It’s dirty and you don’t know where it’s been”, she would say.

Let’s just say that this magician didn’t listen very well to that one.

Making something disappear is quite possibly the most requested effect of all time.

How many times has someone handed something to you and said,

“Hey, can you make this disappear?”
